This watercolor here was inspired by Vincent's most signature painting, his oil painting Blossoming Almond Tree. The story behind the painting is that he was deeply touched when his brother Theo and his wife Johanna named their newborn baby Vincent. He very much loved the child and painted this to honor his namesake. I painted this small watercolor and ink very loosely leaning on the original. It is how Vincent painted and modeled the branches and bark specifically, that really attracted me to do this with my style in ink and watercolor.
